2007-12-24 1:32:07 AM Ihave really enjoyed looking at your website George. You did great job. We will let other s know about it. It was a great pleasure meeting you in Sitka Alaska and hearing your stories of of WWII and your service with our friend Don McGraw. All you Vets are heroes and we appreciate what you all sacrificed for us. You are the Greatest Generation. Thanks again!
Thomas E. Davies tedavies@alumni.lafayette.edu 2007-10-24 6:23:28 PM I came across a reference to the U.S.S. YMS 427 site when I did a recent search on ZOOMINFO.com. My father, Thomas C. Davies, served in the Navy as a Chaplain from 1941 until 1952. While I don't have handy access to his service number, it appears that the Chaplain who performed the burial at sea on 8 April 1945 may have been my father. It is interesting to finally have some idea of where he was during WWII other than "the Pacific." Thanks for the site.

Katy Luby KATYLUBY@MAC.COM 2005-07-13 1:54:05 PM My Grandpa, Don McAfee, was a Lt. onboard the YMS-427 during the war. From what grandma told me over the years, he held a great deal of admiration and fondness for all he served with during that time. I was hoping someone might remember him and be able to tell a few stories on him. I have a special interest b/c he passed before I was born and I am always looking for a special link to him. Also I am a Navy wife raising two Navy brats in Va Beach, Va while my husband serves as XO on the USS Leyte Gulf. Feel free to email me anytime! My mom and Aunt would love to hear about any memories as well. Thanks for putting this site on! I am shaking just looking through it! It is so special.

I am sitting here watching Mt. St. Helens and her eruptions on TV, as I write. I'm hoping you all are getting it, too. This is Shelton, WA territory, and we are not that close. We are OK, and the ash is blowing the other direction, NE. The pictures of the fox hole fellows, etc. were wonderful. My bed felt better, last night. Had four sons. One daughter.Three were in Vietnam. All came home OK. One is now senior chief on Sub. Almost retired-----God Bless All of You. Can you send this on over to the fellas in the fox holes? God Bless all of you, again. We all care--------Grandma Anita

Jim Farrow JFarrow@adelphia.net 2003-05-23 8:01:22 AM Thanks for letting me enjoy your history and web site. As a history major in college, I have enjoyed talking to those of the "Greatest Generation" and hearing their stories, both good and bad. It is because of men and women that served in these ships that I have the freedom's that I enjoy so much. I feel proud to have served my country in the Navy for 20 years, but I cannot dream of walking in your foot prints because the weight of history has left such a deep impression.

Ron Benedict benedictr@yahoo.com 2003-05-02 8:15:49 PM Greetings George. It was nice to get to know you and a number of the 425 crew I'd heard stories about for years. Strange thing - in my dad's (benny)stories, the other guys were the trouble makers. That wasn't what I heard from them, however, at the reunion! Margie & I had a great time in Pensacola, and hope to attend many more reunions to come. You've got a great website! I'll be back regularly. Thanks!
